International Program in Built Environment Studies in Thailand (iBEST) is developed as a summer study abroad program for foreign students who wish to gain knowledge and experiences in built environment and sustainable development in Thailand and the tropical Southeast region. With its aim towards an integrative design and management of built environment while gaining an understanding of Thai culture, the program encompasses multi-disciplinary studies ranging from architecture, landscape architecture, building technology and urban planning. This credit-earning program consists of five main courses which include lectures, survey, a community-based workshop, a mini design or research project, daytrips in Bangkok and fieldtrips to other regions. Approach of courses may be
differently designed to fit each year’s overall theme. Cultural courses such as basic communicative Thai for foreigners and drawing for cultural learning may be offered as an optional program.

iBEST is open to undergraduate and graduate students from all institutions who major in architecture, landscape architecture, planning and related fields. Undergraduate students must have completed their 2nd year at their home university.
